The potential adverse outcomes of solar geo-engineering are not well known enough. Such a focus on techno-fixes distracts from what we should really be doing, making massive investments in renewable energy, and rapidly drawing down our emissions by lowering our energy and materials use – while simultaneously providing a buffer for those with vulnerable livelihoods. Ultimately, those invested in the fossil fuel economy have to make a sacrifice for us to ensure a livable, habitable planet, not use risky geo-engineering to preserve their profits.
