Solar radiation management and other forms of geoengineering would pose serious risks to the enjoyment of human rights. They could disrupt weather patterns, undermine water and food security and amplify regional inequalities. These hypothetical technologies also distract from decarbonisation efforts and are fundamentally ungovernable.
