As an academic (archaeologist and historian, holding also a masters in international relations) I cannot accept that the we take this route, as regardless we will go over 2.3 C. We must address the root causes: population overshoot, unsustainable economic growth models, and reduce radically our C02/methane output. This means reducing C02 out put from industry and agriculture, not just transport. AI, combined with other “quick fix” spurious tech ideas, seen as “silver bullets” can only, and are, accelerating our demise, as the negative feed loops are in every sector. Solar geo engineering therefore cannot provide even a temporary solution given the scientific unknowns pose a too greater risk.
